The research examined influences and correlations in costs per account, costs by operational configuration, average account size trends, small accounts and small funds, minimums, fees and charges, the impact by distribution channel and account type on average account size.

The report also looked at the range of automation within the industry and the impact on overall costs and costs per account; the use of automation and web within the service centre; profitability of transfer agencies; methods and approaches to charging the funds.
