Cofunds, the independent financial planning platform, is extending the range of offshore funds available to intermediaries and their investors with the addition of two funds from emerging markets specialist boutique HEXAM Capital.
The addition of the funds comes on the back of growing demand from advisers for interesting, innovative product applications which in many cases are domiciled offshore.
The Ignis International HEXAM Global Emerging Markets and Emerging Europe.
Funds, both ‘A’ rated by Standard & Poor’s, are available on Cofunds from 2 February. The funds are run in a high conviction style with the managers taking a pragmatic approach to stock selection, blending top-down and bottom-up analysis into their GLCMV (growth, liquidity, currency, management and valuation) research structure.
Managed by Bryan Collings, the Dublin-domiciled Ignis HEXAM Global Emerging Markets Fund, was recently awarded the ‘Best Equity Newcomer Award’ across all equity sectors at the ‘2008 Portfolio Adviser’ fund awards. A UK-domiciled mirror fund is due to be made available to UK retail investors in the first quarter of 2009.
“Emerging markets will come out of the current crisis stronger than the developed world and, over the long-term, will enjoy more sustainable growth,” says Bryan Collings. “Positive gross domestic product and budget surpluses in key emerging markets are in stark contrast to contracting developed markets that are running significant deficits.”
“These solid foundations will drive emerging market outperformance over the coming decades. Recent technical setbacks should accordingly offer an excellent long-term buying opportunity for investors. We are therefore extremely pleased to be able to offer these funds on the UK’s largest independent platform, allowing even more investors to gain exposure to emerging markets through our high conviction funds.”
“As a leading financial planning platform we are committed to ensuring advisers and their clients have access to the widest range of funds possible,” says Russell Lancaster, director, Fund Manager Relations, Cofunds. “We are seeing growing demand from advisers for interesting and innovative investment solutions and these additions from emerging markets specialist HEXAM are part of an ongoing initiative designed to meet that demand.”
