The co-founder of independent securities lending specialist eSecLending has joined FinTech firm Sharegain as its first US hire.

Industry veteran Susan Peters has joined as head of operations Americas where she will be focused on growing Sharegain’s US-based team in 2021.

Her appointment follows a significant uptick in demand for Sharegain’s solutions from US-based financial institutions. The firm’s aim is to open the securities lending market to a much wider pool of investors and asset managers.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been a major catalyst to our business, so now’s the right time to bring forward our global expansion plans,” said Boaz Yaari, CEO, Sharegain. “Susan’s experience and her network within the industry will play a critical role in building our North America operations.”

Earlier this year, the UK-Israeli FinTech firm appointed Alex Ehrlich, the former global co-head of prime brokerage at Morgan Stanley, as a US-based board member.

Peters, a 30-year securities lending veteran, joins from First Liberties Financial where she was its chief administrative officer for over three years. She also served as global head of sales and marketing at corporate actions firm SCORPEO US and co-founded eSecLending in 2001, acting as its CEO for six years.

“Sharegain have a great team, a powerful product and are best placed to bring securities lending into the digital age and drive wider adoption,” added Peters. “20 years ago, the technology wasn’t ready; now it is. I only wish I’d had it throughout my career.”
