CMEA Ventures Signs Andrea Tobias As Partner

CMEA Ventures, a venture capital firm focusing on life sciences and information technology companies, announced that Andrea W. Tobias, previously a Venture partner, was named partner. Andrea has been with CMEA Ventures on its Life Sciences team since July 2001.

CMEA Ventures, a venture capital firm focusing on life sciences and information technology companies, announced that Andrea W. Tobias, previously a Venture partner, was named partner. Andrea has been with CMEA Ventures on its Life Sciences team since July 2001.

Prior to joining CMEA, Tobias spent four years as an assistant director in venture capital at Apax Partners & Cie Ventures in Paris and Abingworth Management in London, where she focused on biotechnology, healthcare, and health net sectors. For eight years prior to that, Andrea held management positions in the biotech industry as director of strategic development for Chiron Corp. and manager of new research identification for Genentech. She also served as the research and development liaison for foreign subsidiaries in Canada, Japan, and Switzerland. Earlier in her career, Tobias worked as a cancer researcher at Triton Biosciences and Roussel Uclaf.

Tobias has a Ph.D. in endocrinology from the University of California – San Francisco School of Medicine, and a B.A. in Physiology/Anatomy from the University of California, Berkeley.
