Clearstream can now offer custody and settlement options for Mexican corporate debt instruments (‘Cebures’).

This move will enable international investors to obtain access to Mexican Peso-dominated securities, and will also unlock the capital available through Clearstream’s international customers for Mexican corporate issuers.

The first Cebures to be serviced by Clearstream shall be corporate bonds, issued by Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). This service will be provided in addition to Clearstream’s existing offerings, via its connection to the Mexican CSD, Indeval, which is operated by Banco Nacional de México (Banamex).

“[This] brings new investment opportunities in a very promising market. At the same time, Mexican corporate issuers gain access to Clearstream’s international customer base,” says Berthold Kracke, head of business management and member of the Clearstream executive board. “This is an important step for the Mexican capital markets, and we are honoured to contribute to the evolution of the Mexican economy.”
