Clearstream has launched a new online collateral management platform, ClearstreamXact, the first step in the company’s plans to build an Internet-based portal for all of Clearstream’s offerings.
As the financial markets’ infrastructure becomes more centralized, such as with the planned introduction of TARGET2-Securities in Europe, Clearstream decided to create this connectivity platform to allow clients to centrally manage their global collateral needs.
“In order to address the challenges that lay ahead…we [had] to come up with a new product that brings connectivity to another level,” says Arnuad Delestienne, Clearstream’s head of core product management.
As investors continue to deal more in multiple asset classes around the world, Clearstream saw a need to provide clients with streamlined access to all of their data.
“Xact makes reference to the quality of the data, to the correctness of the data, to the reliability of the data,” says Delestienne. In the current environment where it’s of the utmost importance to manage liquidity and risk, he says, you must “know that you have exact data.”
For now, Clearstream will keep its other products in areas such as settlement and asset servicing separate, but over time, Clearstream will likely incorporate these products into a single platform whenever the market dictates those changes to be necessary.
