Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking Asia Pacific has announced a series of new hires in its Securities and Fund Services business, including two new country heads and a newly created role of Senior Network Manager.

Lau Chee-Kin has been appointed Singapore Securities Country Manager. Chee-Kin was previously Malaysia’s Securities Country Manager, where Citi says he helped double revenues and assets under custody during his five-year tenure. Chee-Kin joined Citigroup’s Securities and Fund Services business in Malaysia in July 1997 and is a qualified chartered accountant.

Joining Citigroup as Malaysia Securities Country Manager is Benedict Ler. Ler joins Citigroup from RHB Securities, where he was senior general manager of operations. Ler has been at RHB Securities since 1987 and brings with him significant experience and knowledge of the local market. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics

Also joining Citigroup in the newly created role of Securities and Fund Services Network Manager for Asia Pacific is Rudy Ingkiriwang. He joins from Standard Chartered, where he was most recently head of securities services operations for South East Asia. He will be based in Singapore.

In his new role, Ingkiriwang will be a member of the Global Network Management team. He has a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Adelaide as well as a degree in Computer Engineering from Jakarta.

All three report to Michael Sleightholme, Managing Director and Direct Custody and Clearing Head for Asia Pacific.

“These appointments underline Citigroup’s commitment to the Securities and Fund services business across Asia Pacific, one of the fastest growing regions, and our clients expect to be serviced by the best people,” says Sleightholme. “I look forward to working with Chee-Kin, Benedict and Rudy as Citigroup continues to build and develop its Securities and Fund Services business across the region.”
