CIBC Mellon appointed Mark Hemingway, a long-time corporate legal executive, to the position of senior vice president and general counsel.

“With his wide-ranging experiences in the legal profession, he is a strong addition to the company,” said Thomas C. MacMillan, the company’s president and CEO.

Hemingway has held similar lead-legal positions at other Canadian companies, including three communications entities and an industrial and safety products distributor.

The securities and trust company has offices in seven major cities across Canada, and employs more than 1,400.
