Crdit Agricole Private Equity has bolstered its venture capital division with the appointment of Christian Claussen. He has been made senior partner.

He will support the team’s development in Europe, and will enable it to take advantage of investment opportunities in Germany and Northern Europe, according to a statement.

Claussen began his career in 1990 at Siemens in Munich, within the Communication Networks unit. In 1994, he was appointed product marketing director, then vice president business development in 1997. He instigated and directed the taskforce that designed the blueprint for Mustang Ventures, Siemens Communications’ corporate venture fund.

In 1998, he joined the investment team at TVM Capital, one of Germany’s most active venture capital funds, and was promoted to general partner in 1999. He specialises in communications, semiconductors, internet and software.

“We are confident that the German market has untapped potential for venture capital investments that we will develop with Christian Claussen,” says Antoine Colboc, head of Crdit Agricole Private Equity’s venture capital business. “He is a venture capital professional who has great experience, which is vital in this business, particularly in the current situation.”
