Building upon its continuing commitment to support financial literacy, Chase Card Services, the credit card division of JPMorgan Chase & Co., is donating an additional $1.5 million to nearly 50 community organizations across the country to help them create and expand financial education and awareness programs and resources for adults and young people around topics such as budgeting and money management, using credit wisely, and managing debt.

“Especially during this time of economic uncertainty, Chase has renewed its pledge to provide individuals with access to information and assistance in their own communities that can help them improve their financial situations and futures,” says Jeff Courtney, senior vice president, customer support division, Chase card services. “We are pleased to award grants to qualified local organizations so they can provide much needed services to strengthen consumers’ economic stability.”

“More than ever, consumers are in need of information and help about how to make responsible financial decisions,” says Susan C. Keating, president and CEO of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). “Thanks to Chase’s generous grants, many of our member agencies will be able help more people in their communities.”

Through its Financial Literacy Grant Program, Chase previously donated $1.3 million per year for three years to community organizations throughout the United States including credit counseling agencies and consumer financial research groups. Chase’s 2009 grant brings its total contribution to $5.4 million.

Each grant recipient is selected based on the demonstrated quality of the financial education and outreach programs they provide to consumers within their communities and throughout the country.
