Charles Schwab is understood to have switched its third party lending programme from Deutsche GSS, recently acquired by State Street, to Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH). If so, it is a substantial coup for BBH, which did not enter the securities lending business until it hired Christine Donovan slightly over two years ago. BBH refused to comment. Schwab is also understood to have appointed PNC Financial.
