Goldman Sachs veteran Charles Bott is to join buy-out firm BC Partners as managing partner and co-head of the investor relations group in Europe in April. He will be replacing Kevin O’Donohue, managing partner, who is based in New York and who will retire at the close of 2009.
Bott will join the firm’s London-based team from Goldman Sachs, where he was a partner and chairman of the financial sponsors group in Europe.
Goldman Sachs hired Bott in 1986 in corporate finance and he was transferred to the Investment Banking Division in 1993. He was named managing director in 1997 and partner in 2000.
“I look forward to joining one of the top tier international private equity firms with a strong investment track record and a well earned reputation of adding value to its portfolio companies,” says Bott. “In recent years, I have been unfailingly impressed by the professionalism and experience of the team at BC Partners.”
“BC Partners has established a top quality investor base made up of leading institutional investors from North America, Europe and the Far East, who have shown strong support with a high repeat rate from fund to fund,” says O’ Donohue. “I look forward to working with Charlie and believe the team is well placed to expand the investor base in the Middle East and Asia as we look forward to raising our next fund.”
BC Partners’ latest fund, BCEC VIII, closed in May 2005 with approximately 5.8 billion in commitments.
The firm has 12 billion under management, operating through teams in Geneva, Hamburg, London, Milan, New York and Paris. Recent investments include Intelsat, Migros Trk, SGB Group, Brenntag, Amadeus, Hyatt Regency, Picard Surgels and Unity Media.
