Zsigmond Jraim, the governor of the Hungarian central bank, the National Bank of Hungary, has described Hungarian entry to the Euro no sooner than 2013-2014 as “realistic.”

However, the Hungarian government remains adamant that Hungary can honour its promise to comply with the criteria for membership of the Euro as early as 2008. It believes Hungary could join the Euro as early as 2010.
