The Chicago Board of Trade announced Monday that open interest in its new binary options on the Target Federal Funds Rate contract exceeded 1,000 contracts Friday.
The CBOT says it pleased with the number of trades as the option opened for trading only eight days ago.
The new open interest record of 1,032 contracts surpasses the previous record set on July 20 with 962 contracts.
Launched on July 12, the electronically-traded binary options, the CBOT says, are designed to diversify its product offering at the short end of the yield curve.
