Carne Group, a global provider of governance and oversight services for the asset management industry, has opened a new office in the Channel Islands.

In doing so, the firm has appointed Mark Hodgson as the regional managing director. Hodgson will additionally serve as a director on the Jersey and Guernsey fund boards.

Hodgson, a Jersey resident, has worked as a senior executive for HSBC’s U.K. and Jersey divisions. His most recent position was managing director of Capita’s fund administration business, which followed his previous role as managing director of the firm’s multi-jurisdictional offshore registration business.

He states, “There is already demand within the industry for the Carne brand of independent oversight to be extended to Channel Islands funds, and I will be working to deliver that award-winning service here in Jersey and Guernsey.”

Commenting on the opening of their new office, Carne Group CEO, John Donohoe, says, “We are very excited to be able to add the Channel Islands to the list of jurisdictions where Carne now has a permanent presence. Jersey and Guernsey continue to play an important role in the growth and stability of the offshore funds business, including in alternative investment areas like private equity and real estate.”
