Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, has signed a contract to purchase Caplin Trader – a web based application platform, to be used in Barclays’ Fixed Income eCommerce offering.
“We are constantly striving to improve upon our acclaimed technology to deliver the best possible service to our clients,” says Harry Harrison, managing director and global head of fixed income flow trading at Barclays Capital. “Caplin Trader complements our strategy around performance and distribution, and we expect to see the benefits very quickly”
Caplin Trader is a client connectivity platform incorporating a rich internet application (RIA) that enables financial institutions to offer sophisticated multi-asset online trading in a browser. The advanced drag-and-drop Ajax front-end makes it easy for end-users to create individual screen layouts to their exact requirements, and the configurable trade model makes it quick and easy to roll out new products.
The fact that Caplin Trader can be accessed from any standard web browser – with nothing to install, no plug-in dependencies and no changes to security settings or firewalls -allows banks to access the largest possible customer base. Built on the Caplin Platform, Caplin Trader provides a highly scalable architecture, which enables institutions to handle high levels of customer demand with ease.
“We have been delighted with the take up of Caplin Trader since its launch in May 2007,” says Paul Caplin, CEO of Caplin Systems. “Our expanding raft of blue-chip clients is a great endorsement of the quality of our technology.”
