With the start of trading, the Bulgarian Stock Exchange has been using Xetra the fully electronic trading system of Deutsche Brse Group.

The contract governing the technical market control of the stock exchange in Sofia has an initial term of five years. Deutsche Brse will be responsible for organising trading in approximately 500 securities listed on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.

“We are pleased to be able to offer the Bulgarian Stock Exchange the reliability and speed of our high-performance trading system and thereby increase the international competitiveness of the Bulgarian market,” says Frank Gerstenschlger, member of the executive board, Deutsche Brse.

The technical requirements are now in place to provide users of the fully electronic Xetra trading system with direct access to the Bulgarian financial market in the future. Deutsche Brse is supporting the development of the Bulgarian capital market by offering international investors this access. The 80 new participants from Bulgaria will also have the opportunity to trade in more than 330,000 instruments listed on Xetra.

Deutsche Brse is also responsible for calculating and licensing the Bulgarian indices SOFIX, BG 40 Index, BG TR30 Index and BG REIT Index as well as delivering real time Bulgarian Stock Exchange market data. Deutsche Brse Market Data & Analytics offers three new information products from the stock exchange in Sofia, which it will distribute via CEF data feeds.
