The Bulgarian Stock Exchange has adopted a Corporate Governance Code of the Public Companies Listed on BSE-Sofia. The Code will be effective until the national corporate governance code is adopted.
This is part of the efforts for building up national and foreign investors’ trust in the management and supervision of the Bulgarian public companies. In the Report about BSE-Sofia activities in the first half of 2006, the Stock Exchange acknowledged that some public companies have already adopted good corporate governance practices.
The Code elaborates on the principle for investors’ protection via clear definition of the requirements regarding management bodies. The emphasis is on the dialogue between shareholders and company’s management as well as on the full disclosure of information about the public companies.
