Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (BBH) is bringing the Investor Services and the Treasury & Markets business lines together into a division called Investor Services and Markets, headed by William B. Tyree.

Tyree succeeds Douglas A. (“Digger”) Donahue, Jr., who was recently appointed as managing partner of the firm. BBH says the combination of the businesses recognizes tight alignment of strategies and shared client relationships enjoyed by both business lines.

The current senior management team will stay in place, with each partner assuming enhanced responsibilities. Andrew J. F. Tucker will become head of the firm’s market-related activities. Susan C. Livingston will oversee the firm’s asset manager and fund client relationships and related services, while Jeffrey R. Holland will head client relationships and related services for financial institutions. Timothy J. Connelly will head client technology solutions and subcustodian network management.

“Over the last 15 years, Bill has been a key member of the Investor Services and Markets team as we have successfully positioned BBH to differentiate ourselves as a thought leader among scale competitors,” Donahue says. “Bill leads an outstanding group of Partners who have worked well together in this business for many years. The continuity of this team and the operating style they enjoy can’t be matched anywhere in the industry.”

Tyree joined BBH in 1985 in the Corporate Banking department. Since 1992, he has been responsible for the firm’s Treasury and Markets activities, including asset-liability management, cash management, foreign exchange, securities lending, strategy research and sales, as well as equity and funds execution. Tyree became a Partner in 2001.

“Under Digger’s leadership we have grown the Investor Services and Markets business, without acquisition, at more than double the rate of the S&P for the last 10 years,” Tyree says. “We have a seasoned management group which never takes our leading position in the market for granted. Our clients tell us that the continuity of our Investor Services and Markets management team of partners is one of our hallmarks. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to deliver relationship and service excellence to our clients and leveraging a total of over 150 years of combined experience at BBH.”
