BrokerTec Futures Exchange (BTEX) says its volume year-to-date is up 54 percent over the same period last year .
Turnover for the first four months of 2003 was 669,763 contracts compared to 435,103 contracts during the first four months of 2002. In addition, open interest on 30 April hit a record high of 34,440 contracts, up nearly 45 per
cent over the 23,773 contracts one year earlier. A total of 138,142 contracts traded during the month of April, down 1.4 per
cent from the 140,104 contracts traded in April 2002.
Volume in the 10-year U.S. Treasury note was 57,502 contracts; turnover in the 5-year U.S. Treasury note was 43,197; while 37,443 30-year U.S. Treasury bond futures contracts were traded in April.
