Broadridge has hired Manuel Baptista to lead sales within its division providing proxy voting and corporate actions services to custodians and issuers.

Baptista will lead the the sales team for Broadridge’s investor communication solutions international (ICSI) division, working closely with issuers, custodians, intermediaries and institutional investors to help them navigate industry and regulatory change, such as the EU Shareholder Rights Directive.

He joins from Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) where he was most recently head of global proxy distribution. Baptista also held a variety of positions in operations, communications and sub-custodian network management roles during his 20-year career at firms including Euroclear and BNY Mellon.

Baptista will be based in Belgium and report to Bob Stantangelo, president of international sales for Broadridge.

Broadridge has made a push in using distributed ledger technology (DLT), with an aim to engage custodians in using the platform for proxy voting processes. In January, it executed the first blockchain-based proxy vote in Japan, in which the role of local custodians, global custodians, the central securities depository and local transfer agents were simulated.
