ABN AMRO Mellon Global Securities Services has appointed Brian Leddy as Head of Sales, effective from yesterday. Leddy was previously Head of London Custody Operations, Mellon Global Securities Services. He succeeds Peter Adams, who moved to Mellon Financial to lead the integration of the non-US legacy Mellon Analytical Solutions’ business into Mellon.

As Head of Sales, Leddy will report to John van Verre, Chief Commercial Officer, and will assume direct responsibility for ABN AMRO Mellon’s sales and sales support teams. His role is critical to the commercial growth of the business, its pipeline for prospective revenue and the expansion of its client base.

Leddy’s career in financial services began in 1985 with WM in Edinburgh in the investment accounting department. In 1988 he joined Bankers Trust Co. as Assistant Vice President, responsible for the Global Custody Inquiry and Central Processing Teams. In 1994 he was promoted to Vice President and located to Jersey City, New Jersey, where he managed Global Custody Income Processing, FX and Settlements in a number of markets; promoted again in 1996, he assumed EMEA responsibility for these areas. In September 1999 Leddy was appointed as Head of London Custody Operations, Mellon Global Securities Services, and managed Settlements, Corporate Actions and Income Processing in UK and Ireland.

In the last few years of his role at Mellon, Leddy worked closely with ABN AMRO Mellon senior management on a number of business development activities. These included implementing the operational support activities for Mellon’s UK and Irish subcustody services; overseeing the establishment of ABN AMRO Mellon’s domestic custody operations in The Netherlands; and participating in a number of high-level new business presentations.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to leverage my extensive operational experience in securities services,” says Leddy. “Having been involved with ABN AMRO Mellon in a number of important commercial and operational projects with sales and senior management, I am excited about working with such a first-class team.”

Nadine Chakar, CEO of ABN Amro Mellon, describes Leddy as “a seasoned, consummate professional in global custody and asset servicing. His experience in our industry sector, proven management skills, enthusiasm and drive for success will add new lan to our sales area and help us to build on the excellent results, pipeline and team developments achieved by Peter Adams in the role.”
