Trafalgar Capita, the London-based hedge fund manager run by Chris Aarons and Nick Cremin, announced today the high profile recruitment of Brian Bielinski as Senior Portfolio Manager.

The Navigator Compass fund, with assets of $30m, will transfer with Bielinski to Trafalgar Capital from Navigator Fund Advisers Limited, which he co-founded in 1999. Bielinski currently runs a quantitatively-based strategy for the fund, which has annualised at approximately 14 per cent since its launch in 1999. The transfer of this fund will bring Trafalgar’s assets under management to $150 million.

Chris Aarons, Managing Director of Trafalgar Capital comments: “We are delighted to get Brian Bielinski on board at Trafalgar. Brian Bielinski is a highly experienced quantitative manager and brings a wealth of expertise to Trafalgar. He has a strong track record in producing consistent returns with low volatility. At Trafalgar, he will also provide quantitative management skills for the Trafalgar Funds, our flagship European Equity Market Neutral fund, working alongside Richard Szwagrzak and myself. Brian’s core skills and expertise are highly complementary to our business and we look forward to working with him.”

Bielinski began his career at Salomon Brothers in 1991 working in the Equity Portfolio Analysis Group based in New York. He moved to London in 1995 and headed the European Quantitative and Derivatives Research Group at Salomon, before establishing Navigator Fund Advisers Limited in 1999.

Trafalgar Capital recently announced good results for 2002 with its Pan-European Equity Market Neutral fund, producing returns in excess of 13 per cent.

For 2003, Trafalgar Capital anticipates that its assets under management growth rate will continue, making it likely that the Trafalgar Fund will close to new investors early in the year.

On the basis of its strong growth and performance, Trafalgar Capital is poised to expand its product range during 2003 and plans to launch a US equity market neutral fund later this year. This second fund will operate alongside the Trafalgar Fund, which invests in a European equity market neutral strategy.

Trafalgar Capital Management Limited (“Trafalgar Capital”) is a well-connected London-based asset management company, chaired by Lord Strathclyde. It launched its flagship product, The Trafalgar Fund, a Pan-European Equity Market Neutral fund, in November 2001.

Trafalgar Capital is completely separate and independent of Trafalgar Asset Managers, which is headed by Mario Nicolaou.
