The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has announced the Absolute Points of Index variation for the Index based market wide circuit breaker for the first quarter of 2005.

The absolute points of index variation (over the previous day’s closing SENSEX) which would trigger the market wide circuit breaker for the quarter January 1, 2005 to March 31, 2005 include 10%; 650 Equivalent Points; 15% 1000 Equivalent Points, 20% 1325 Equivalent Points.

Movements of either the SENSEX or the NSE S&P CNX Nifty, whichever is breached earlier, would trigger the market wide circuit breakers. In case of a 10% movement of either of the Indicies before 1 pm, there would be a 1 hour halt. At or after 1 pm but before 2.30 pm, a half hour halt and after 2.30pm no market halt.

In case of a 15% movement of either of the indices before 1 pm, there would be a 2 hour halt. At or after 1 pm but before 2.30 pm, a 1 hour halt and after 2.30pm no market halt.
