Bank of America has hired Alastair Borthwick, formerly of Goldman Sachs, as managing director and head of Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets.
Based in New York, Borthwick will report jointly to Bill White, managing director and global head of Capital Markets, and Tom White, managing director and head of Global Credit Products.
As head of Investment Grade Capital Markets, Borthwick will be responsible for the global effort in High Grade Capital Markets, Private Placements, Commercial Paper and Investment Grade Syndications.
“Alastair’s years of experience in debt capital markets will be a further enhancement to our team’s already deep bench of talent,” said Bill White. “We’re delighted he’ll be joining us to lead the Investment Grade platform.”

Borthwick joined BAS from Goldman Sachs where he spent 12 years and was most recently in the Investment Banking Division Management group. He served in various leadership roles including Management and Strategy for the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities division; and head of European Portfolio Credit (cash and synthetic CDOs). He also worked in special situations, debt capital markets and syndicate.
Borthwick has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
