BNY Mellon has hired Nikos Kardassis as chair of the enterprise product management group, strategic program management, and Asset Servicing product management, where he will be responsible for developing product strategy across BNY Mellon’s four main investment servicing platforms for asset owners, asset managers, insurance firms, and financial intermediaries/private banks.

Kardassis will also become a member of BNY Mellon’s operating committee of senior executives, and he will report to both Tim Keaney, vice chairman and CEO of Investment Services, and Samir Pandiri, executive vice president and CEO of Asset Servicing.

Kardassis joins BNY Mellon from Indian-airline Jet Airways, where he has been CEO in two separate periods, first in 1994, and most recently since 2009 until now. From 2001 to 2005, Kardassis was co-head of the Merrill Lynch Investments & Wealth Management Group, and he was also president and CEO for the Merrill Lynch Insurance Group. Prior to that, he served as president for GE Capital Aviation Services from 1999 to 2001.

Dan Wywoda, the former head of global product management for Asset Servicing, will take on a new role leading strategic programs within Asset Servicing, and he will report to Kardassis.

“Nikos has more than two decades of leadership and business management experience and a proven track record of driving innovative product development and profitability, which will serve us well as we shape the future of Investment Services,” says Keaney. “Dan has done outstanding work leading Asset Servicing’s GPM team the past six years, and we look forward to his continued guidance and expertise on strategic projects.”
