The Bank of New York announced today that Joseph V. Tripodi has joined the Bank as Chief Marketing Officer.

Tripodi joins the bank to oversee all marketing initiatives globally, including the advertising and branding functions for the bank. He reports to Gerald L. Hassell, president.

Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Tripodi served as chief marketing officer of the Seagram Spirits and Wine Group, where he had responsibility for all marketing worldwide. Before joining Seagram, he was executive vice president, global marketing, products and services at MasterCard International. Early in his career, he had a variety of international and functional assignments with Mobil Oil Corp. Tripodi has an undergraduate degree in economics from Harvard University and a master’s degree from The London School of Economics.

“We are extremely delighted to have someone of Joe’s calibre and experience join The Bank of New York,” says Hassell. “He brings with him a wealth of global marketing and branding experience in both business-to-business and consumer environments from his days at Seagram, MasterCard and Mobil. His insight into this very specialized function will be critical as the Bank expands its role as the premier global asset servicer.”

Commenting on joining the Bank, Tripodi said, “I’m honored to be part of the management team at The Bank of New York. No other institution has the heritage, financial integrity, and leadership position in the growing global marketplace that The Bank of New York possesses. I look forward to working with all of the Bank’s operating units to continue to build and strengthen The Bank of New York business and brand.”
