BNP Paribas Securities Services has appointed a new senior executive to lead its sales efforts for buy-side firms in the UK, Middle East and South Africa (UKMESA) region.

Tom Gardner joins BNP Paribas as head of asset managers, asset owners and alternative investors sales for the UKMESA region.

Based in London, Gardner will report to Emma Crabtree, head of asset managers, asset owners and alternative investors sales, EMEA.

He joins from eFront, one of the world’s largest alternatives investment software providers, where he was chief sales officer. Prior to eFront, Gardner was also head of European sales for fund administration, hedge fund and trading at FIS.

“Tom’s long-standing financial services technology expertise will be key in promoting our offering to clients at a time of fast regulatory, operational and technological change,” said Crabtree.

BNP Paribas has made a number of appointments to strengthen its institutional investors sales team for UKMESA over the last 12 months.

In August last year, the bank recruited four senior sales directors including Valeria Anderson for its asset management segment, Omar Arti for relationship management for the Middle East, and Colm O’Brien for its alternatives investors.
