BNP Paribas has tapped Citi’s former head of hedge fund sales for Asia-Pacific (APAC) for its prime brokerage business.

Carl Davey joins BNP Paribas in Hong Kong as head of prime brokerage sales for the region, after previously leading Citi’s APAC hedge fund sales desk for over five years.

Davey also held a number of senior Asia prime brokerage and equity financing roles for Morgan Stanley.

He will be responsible for managing BNP Paribas’ sales and client solutions teams across the region.

Davey is the second to join BNP Paribas’ prime brokerage team from Citi in the space of six months. In October it hired Matthew Clark, Citi’s former global head of client executives within the prime brokerage sales business, to become global head of prime brokerage sales.

In addition, BNP Paribas recently announced a major reshuffle to its prime services & financing and global markets team.

Kieron Smith, its former global head of derivatives execution and clearing, was named deputy head of prime services & financing, and Raphael Masgnaux became the sole head of G10 rates and prime services & financing (PS&F).

It also relocated Pascal Fischer, head of European markets, to Hong Kong to lead the Asia-Pacific markets team.
