The Bolsas y Mercados Espanoles posted positive gains in February with trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE reaching EUR83.35, which represents a year on year increase of 26%. The number of trades reached 2.02 million, 29% up on the year.
The accumulated trading volume posted since January has came in at 181.76 billion, 28 % up on 2005. The number of trades was up 32% on the year.
Trading on the Latibex market came in at 72 million, which represents an 85 % increase from the same month in 2005 and a new record high on this market. The number of trades increased 129%, hitting a monthly record high.
Accumulated trading volume on the Latibex market up to February was 136 million, 80% up on 2005. The number of trades on this market grew over 86% on the year.
The return on the IBEX 35 index in February was 5.73% and the accumulated growth came in at 9.38%. The return on the IBEX 35 with dividends for the same period was 10.08 %. The monthly returns on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP and IBEX SMALL CAP were 13.70% and 16.40% respectively. The return on the FTSE Latibex TOP index in February was 14.11%.
Trading volumes in February 2006 on the warrants and certificates market came in at EUR261 million, which represents a 33% increase over the same month in 2005 and a monthly record high on this market since its creation. The number of trades reached 45,606, up 44% on the same month last year.
The accumulated figure up to February was 498 million, 37% up on 2005. The number of trades increased over 53%.
Futures and options trading through MEFF in February 2006 came in at 2.36 million contracts, 7% up on February 2005. It is worth mentioning the heavy trading volume in Stock Futures, at 347.206 contracts (+28%) as well as that in Mini Ibex Futures, at 106,222 contracts (+23%) and Ibex 35 Options, at 595, 833 contracts (+18%).
Trading in Ibex Futures contracts came in at 455,072 contracts, 12% up on February last year.
