Euroclears, or does it?

Euroclear may start to wonder about the connotations of its name. As Euroclear announces the link between itself and the Korea Securities Depository (KSD) the 10th such link between an Asian-Pacific central securities depository and Euroclear the link between the Euro, clearing, and the Euroclear brand has become lost through Euroclear's expansion. Discussing the move with Denis Peters of Euroclear, an explanation was soon forthcoming. Founded in 1968 as part of J.P. Morgan, the Euroclear name originated from the settlement of USD eurobonds. Back then, clearing and settlement were synonymous with each other. Today, Euroclear has been active in the Asia-Pacific region for 22 years, and the Euroclear group also includes Euroclear Belgium, Euroclear Finland, Euroclear France, Euroclear Nederland, Euroclear Sweden and Euroclear UK & Ireland. Perhaps WorldSettle would be a better name.
