Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has appointed Simon Wong has been appointed as its new European Head of Corporate Governance. Wong joins BGI from McKinsey & Company where he advised companies and governments on a broad range of corporate governance, organization, strategy and financial regulatory matters.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Wong served as Counsel and Principal Administrator in the Corporate Affairs Division of the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France. At the OECD he focused on corporate governance, company law and insolvency reform policy matters. Wong began his career as a securities lawyer for Shearman & Sterling and Linklaters.

“Simon has an extensive knowledge of corporate governance issues and I’m sure that his previous roles as an adviser, an OECD official and a securities lawyer will give him a unique perspective,” says Lindsay Tomlinson, Vice Chairman, BGI Europe. “Simon’s broad experience across different jurisdictions will also be an asset to a global organisation such as BGI.”
