Loic Meinnel has been appointed Bear Stearns’ European head of Foreign Exchange, global head of foreign exchange options and European co-head of emerging markets.
Based in London, Meinnel will be responsible for expanding foreign exchange activities and building out the firm’s emerging markets business.
“We are delighted to welcome Loic Meinnel to Bear Stearns. He has an excellent track record and is ideally qualified to drive the growth of our FX business. This appointment will enhance the professional service we offer to our clients,” says Yves Leysen, head of fixed income, Bear Stearns in Europe.
Meinnel was formerly global head of FX at BNP Paribas where he was also a member of the fixed income executive committee. Previously, he was head of FX options trading in Europe at UBS AG Zurich.
Bear Stearns’ former European head of foreign exchange, Bernd Broker, will continue as a senior member of the fixed income division. After almost 12 years of successfully building the FX and, more recently, the emerging markets franchises he is now handing over to Meinnel to pursue other opportunities internally.
