Soha Nashaat, the Managing Director and Head of Middle East, North Africa and Turkey for Barclays Wealth has won the “Women Banker of the Year” award at the 6th Middle East Businesswomen and Leaders Achievements Awards.
The ‘Woman Banker of the Year’ is awarded by the institute to one woman whose professional achievements and personal integrity have made her an icon within the Middle East banking and finance industry. Her career achievements and contribution are clear evidence to how women’s roles have changed in the Middle East banking and finance industry.
“I am very proud and honored to receive this award,” says Nashaat. “To me this symbolises how far women’s roles in the banking industry have evolved and how the regional leadership is actively supporting this evolution.”
Based in Dubai, Nashaat has recently joined Barclays as Managing Director, Head of Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, Barclays Wealth. Nashaat has responsibility for managing Barclays existing high net worth business in the region and driving forward Barclays expansion in what is a key area of growth for the company.
Nashaat joins Barclays from Merrill Lynch where she has worked for the past sixteen years based in New York, Argentina and finally London where she was Head of their International Private Client Group for the offshore Middle East – including London, Monaco and Geneva. Additionally, she successfully started and headed up the Institutional Client Group- a division that targeted mid and small cap institutions across Europe and the Middle East.
