Barclays Capital has hired eight new people in its Global Credit Derivatives business, all from Citigroup.

Commenting on the announcement was Vince Balducci, who heads up the Global Credit Derivatives business for Barclays Capital. He noted: “These hires will play a big part in augmenting the rapid growth and in building on the strong market position of our Global Credit Derivatives business. They will strengthen our position in single name default swaps trading and in correlation trading, and will seed us with an experienced three-person credit options and exotics trading team.”

Doug Warren joins as a Managing Director and Head of North American Credit Derivatives reporting to Balducci. Warren joins from Citigroup where he held a similar position since 1997.

Jonathan Koerner is also a Managing Director and will be Head of North American Correlation Trading. Koerner joins from Citigroup where he held a similar position. Ted Husveth joins from Citigroup as an Associate Director, North American Correlation Trading.Greg Tell joins as a Director, Head of North American Credit Options and Exotics Trading. Tell joins from Citigroup where he held a similar position. Geoff Gentile and Alex Salomon both join from Citigroup as Associate Directors on the firm’s North American Credit Options and Exotics Trading team. Tony Trears and Alex Rabiner join the firm’s North American CDS Flow Trading desk as Associate Directors. Both were previously at Citigroup.

The addition of these eight complements other recent hires in the credit derivatives franchise, including: John Lovisolo, who joined the firm as a Managing Director of Credit Derivatives and Structured Products Sales; and Oliver Dunsche, who joined as a Director and Head of Credit Derivative Structuring. Both Lovisolo and Dunsche joined Barclays Capital from Deutsche Bank in September.
