Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, has appointed Trace McCreary as Managing Director and Head of US Infrastructure Finance. He is based in New York and reports to Rick Van Zijl, Managing Director and Co-Head of US Leveraged Finance.

McCreary has primary responsibility for developing Barclays Capital’s relationships in the expanding infrastructure sector and will focus on airports, energy generation, ports, rail, roads, social, telecommunications, and water and waste water infrastructure.

“Trace brings a wealth of experience in the origination and execution of financing for infrastructure transactions and is a welcome addition to our leveraged finance team,” says Van Zijl. “We’ve witnessed a dramatic rise in the rate of private infrastructure investment, which is fueling demand for customized solutions to finance these investments. Trace will play a pivotal role in expanding our coverage of this high growth sector.”

Trace McCreary was most recently a Senior Managing Director in the Global Industries Group at Bear Stearns where he oversaw Infrastructure coverage. Previously, he was a Managing Director in Leveraged Finance Origination for Industrials at Credit Suisse, where he also covered infrastructure investors. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director in the Industrials Group at Citigroup.
