Julius Baer, the wealth manager in Switzerland, has announced that Thomas Meier, CEO Asia, Middle East and Eastern Europe and a Member of the Executive Board of Bank Julius Baer, is to relocate from Zurich to Singapore, effective 1 July 2009. This move reflects Julius Baer’s long-term commitment to the emerging markets, in which it has identified further growth potential.

“Under Thomas Meier’s leadership, we have built a very successful business in Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe and we continue to see growth potential in these regions,” says Boris Collardi, CEO of Bank Julius Baer. “The decision that a Member of the Executive Board should be based in Singapore in order to directly oversee the further development of our operations in the emerging markets, particularly in Asia, underscores our firm commitment to these dynamic regions.”

Thomas Meier is CEO Asia, Middle East and Eastern Europe and a Member of the Executive Board of Bank Julius Baer. He has been with the company since 2005 and has been instrumental in positioning Julius Baer as a key player in the wealth management industry in the emerging markets. He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of private banking and has held various senior positions in Asia during his career. Thomas Meier has a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Zurich.
