Spain’s Banco Santander Central Hispano will open three new branches in the US in order to expand its presence in North America. The bank, Spain’s largest by assets, will open a branch in Houston, Texas and San Diego, California. Discussion for the third branch is focused on Los Angeles and San Francisco, says a spokesman from the bank.

The bank currently operates five branches in the US. Last month, Santander acquired Bank of America’s wealth management portfolio, giving the bank 6,000 US clients, most of whom are Latin American.
