Banc of America Securities (BAS) has hired Hans Miller, Robert Fleischer, Michael Barry, Justin Milberg and Anna Iacucci to the firm’s Financial Institutions corporate and investment banking group. All five executives will be based in New York and report to Tony Ursano, global head of the Financial Institutions Group.

Hans Miller has nearly 30 years of corporate strategy, financial planning and investor relations experience to BAS’ Financial Institutions Group, where he will serve as a managing director on the insurance team. He joins BAS from The Hartford Financial Services Group, where he had been since 1986, most recently as senior vice president of planning, development and investor relations. Prior to that role, Miller had worked for Hartford Financial’s international operations for 17 years, most recently as president and CEO of The Hartford International. Prior to that, he worked for the American Foreign Insurance Association (AFIA) from 1974 until 1984 and continued on with Cigna after its acquisition of AFIA until 1986. In addition, Miller has served as an industry expert for the U.S. Delegation to the OECD’s Insurance Committee and is a past member of the U.S. Commerce Department’s Industry Sector Advisory Council (Services). He holds a BA degree from Carleton College, has completed work at the College of Insurance in New York and studied at the Universite de Besancon in France.

After 26 years in investment banking, Bob Fleischer will serve as a managing director and senior investment banker focused on the insurance sector. He joins BAS from Credit Suisse First Boston where he had been a managing director in their Financial Institutions Group with a focus on the insurance sector. In that role, he worked with a broad array of insurance clients, including Aspen Insurance, Endurance Specialty, Leucadia National, Montpelier Re, Primus Guaranty, Swiss Re and XL Capital. Fleischer joined CSFB in 2000 as a result of the company’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette (DLJ). Prior to CSFB, he had been a managing director on DLJ’s Insurance investment banking team since 1985 and had worked in the firm’s investment banking group since 1978. He began his career at PriceWaterhouse in 1964 and holds a BS in Accounting from Duke University.

Michael Barry brings more than 17 years of investment banking experience to BAS’ Financial Institutions Group, where he will serve as a managing director and senior investment banker focused on banks and depository institutions. Before joining BAS, he had been a managing director in Lehman Brothers’ Financial Institutions Group since 2001, with a focus on senior depository institutions and mergers & acquisitions. In that role, he worked with a diverse group of financial institutions, including Fifth Third Bancorp, M&T Bank Corp., SunTrust Banks and Webster Financial Corp. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Barry was a member of Merrill Lynch’s Financial Institutions Group, where he was a mergers and acquisitions specialist working with commercial banks, thrifts and non-banking financial institutions. He began his career in PaineWebber’s Financial Institutions Group after earning his MBA from the Wharton School. Barry also holds a BA in Politics from Princeton.

Justin Milberg brings more than 10 years of investment banking experience to BAS’ Financial Institutions Group, where he will be a managing director and senior investment banker focused on the insurance sector. He joins BAS from Lazard Freres & Co, where he had been a managing director in their Financial Institutions Group since 2002 working on mergers & acquisitions, transaction execution and business development. In that role, he worked with a number of clients in the asset management and property & casualty insurance industries, including Conseco, Penn Independent and Seix Investors. Prior to Lazard Freres, Milberg was a director of mergers & acquisitions in Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein’s Financial Institutions Group. He also has held investment banking positions at West Merchant Bank and Kidder, Peabody & Company. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a BA in Economics and Spanish Literature from Cornell University.

Anna Iacucci brings nearly 20 years of Wall Street experience to BAS’ Financial Institutions Group, where she will serve as a principal and global head of the Financial Institutions Group ratings agency advisory team. She joins BAS from Goldman Sachs, where she had been since 1999 and most recently served as executive director of credit risk management and advisory at Goldman Sachs International in London since 2001. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Iacucci was a vice president and senior credit officer at General Re Financial Products Corporation and a senior analyst at Moody’s Investor Services. She began her career at Citibank in 1985 and holds both an MBA and BS in Business from New York University.
