In a move to grow its European equity derivatives business, Banc of America Securities (BAS) has expanded its existing London presence, led by Alex Bernand, head of Structured Credit Trading and head of Equity Financial Products in Europe for BAS.
As part of this expansion, Emmanuel Slezack and Arthur De Charnace have joined the trading team reporting to Jerome Drean, head of European and Multi-Currency Flow and Exotic Equity Linked Derivative Trading. BAS also adds derivatives marketing professionals Yann Le Garrec, Patrick Sommer, Alex China, Geraldine Bartoli, Martin Lehmann and Dirk Grunert.
“This highly talented group of professionals will help enable our clients to leverage our existing structured credit trading capabilities and capitalize on equity derivative opportunities that exist in the European markets. Adding these capabilities complements our existing synthetic prime brokerage and equity financing platform, offering clients a robust suite of derivative services,” said Chris Innes, Global Head of Equity Financial Products for BAS. “Clients are increasingly seeking solutions across asset classes, and this team enhances our ability to deliver that capability.”
Emmanuel Slezack is head of European Equity Derivative Index Trading and was hired to drive business development on indices. Prior to joining BAS, he was with JP Morgan, where he was responsible for flow trading of European indices and also spent three years in Tokyo focusing on index and corporate hedging. Emmanuel is a graduate of Institut Europeen des Affaires in Paris.
Arthur De Charnace joins BAS as an Index Trader from JP Morgan, where he worked closely with Emmanuel on the Index Trading Desk. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine.
Yann Le Garrec is head of Marketing for EMEA Corporate Equity Derivatives and Equity Products. He reports to Alex Bernand. Yann joined BAS from JP Morgan where he was Head of EMEA Equity Solutions Marketing and Co-Head of EMEA Equity Derivatives Corporate Marketing. Yann is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees.
Alessandro (Alex) China joins BAS as Principal to market Equity Derivatives to Southern European corporate clients and reports to Yann Le Garrec. He joins BAS from Goldman Sachs where he was responsible for marketing equity derivatives to clients in Italy and Spain. Throughout his 14-year long career he has worked as a derivatives marketer and structurer as well as a fixed income derivatives trader. Alex graduated from Bocconi University in Milan with a degree in Economics.
Geraldine Bartoli joins BAS as Principal to market Equity Derivatives to Northern European corporate clients and reports to Yann Le Garrec. Previously she was with JP Morgan, where she was responsible for marketing equity derivatives to French clients. Geraldine has been working in equity derivatives for the past five years and has been marketing credit and rate products since 1997. She is a graduate of Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris.
Patrick Sommer is head of EMEA Equity Derivatives Investor Marketing and is responsible for growing BAS’ footprint among clients in that region. Patrick reports to Alex Bernand and Brian Heyworth, Head of International Global Market Sales. He joined BAS from BNP Paribas, where he was head of Equity Derivative Marketing to Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe and brings nearly twenty years of European equity derivative sales and marketing experience to the platform. Patrick is a graduate of the University of Brussels and HEC-St.-Louis.
Martin Lehmann joins BAS as principal to focus on marketing equity derivatives to investors in Europe and reports to Patrick Sommer. Previously he was with BNP Paribas, where he was most recently a Senior Equity Derivative Marketer. Martin is a graduate of Darmstadt University of Technology.
Dirk Grunert joins as an associate, also focused on marketing equity derivatives to investors in Europe. Previously he was with BNP Paribas, where he served in a similar capacity. Dirk also reports to Patrick Sommer. He is a graduate of Darmstadt University of Technology.
