BAFT-IFSA announced its newly elected board for the 2011-12 year at the associations annual meeting today in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
BAFT-IFSA is the association for organizations engaged in international transaction banking and is dedicated to expanding markets, shaping regulatory and legislative policy, and developing business solutions to contribute to the safety and soundness of the global financial system.
The 2011-2012 board will be chaired by Jeremy Wilson, vice chairman, Barclays Corporate. Wilson is responsible for engagement at board or executive committee level with Barclays major corporate and institutional customers in the development of new business and maintenance of key relationships, and for Barclays representation on industry initiatives. Wilson has been active with the association for years and has served on the board since 2007.
It is an honor to chair this prestigious international group at such a critical time, Wilson says. BAFT-IFSA has a crucial role to play. It must serve the industry and its members around the world as they grapple with the aftermath of a global financial crisis, the emergence of a new economic axis, and the demands these place on their customers, shareholders, regulators, employees, and, above all, the societies they serve. In doing so, BAFT-IFSA will continue to enhance industry standards, support the international businesses of its members, work on their behalf with regulators around the world, and act as a voice for the commercial banking industry across the globe.
