BAFT-IFSA has recently hired Joseph Pawelczyk to hold the position of Vice President, effective July 16.
Pawelczyk was most recently Vice President for International Relations for the Clearing House Interbank Payments System (CHIPS), a $1.5 trillion per day international payments system operated by the Clearing House Payments Company, L.L.C. This system is used by both domestic and foreign banks for the exchange and settlement of international dollar transactions. In his capacity as vice president, Mr. Pawelczyk was responsible for examining trends and issues, and developing strategies for the global payments markets. Mr. Pawelczyk held this position since 2005, but has been with the Clearing House in various capacities since 1981.
Dan Taylor, BAFT-IFSA’s president and chief operating officer, said the organization was thrilled with the addition.
“Joe brings to BAFT-IFSA a wealth of knowledge and experience in the payments space,” said Taylor. “His addition to the team will greatly enhance our ability to coordinate our efforts related to payments issues.”
BAFT-IFSA also recently added Maria Burke to the staff. Ms. Burke holds the position of Program Manager, where she’ll be responsible for marketing, logistics and coordination of BAFT-IFSA conferences and similar events. Ms. Burke comes to BAFT-IFSA from the American Bankers Association where she most recently held the position of program manager for ABA’s Education Foundation. She has a background in international sales and marketing.
