Insurance group, Aviva appointed of Shayne Deighton as group financial management director, reporting to Aviva group finance director, Andrew Moss from 1 May 1, 2006.
Deighton joins Aviva from Ernst & Young where he has been a partner in the life actuarial practice since 2001, servicing a wide range of consulting and audit clients in the UK, Ireland and Europe and internally responsible for quality and risk management.
As group financial management director, Deighton will lead a team of technical specialists responsible for the development and implementation of Avivas capital and financial risk management framework and of the operational and governance structures to support it.

Graduating in mathematics from St Johns, Cambridge, Deightonbegan his career as an actuarial trainee with Commercial Union in 1981, working across a range of functions to become assistant actuary before joining Tillinghast in 1987. There he was involved in a wide range of consulting assignments, key projects being the flotation of Irish Life, demutualisation of Norwich Union Ireland and the start-up of National & Provincial Life. He became a Principal there in 1992.
In 1998, at the time of the Zurich/BAT merger, Deighton joined Zurich Financial Services as UK Life finance director and statutory board member for the four life companies.
