Aviva plc (Aviva), the savings, investment and insurance group, says that Philip Scott, executive director, Aviva International, will focus on the further development of Aviva’s businesses in North America and Asia Pacific from 1st September. He will also retain responsibility for the world-wide operations of Morley Fund Management. This is a result of the proposed acquisition of AmerUs Group Co. in the USA, which will significantly increase the size of the group’s international operations
Philip’s responsibility for Aviva’s continental European operations will be transferred to Tidjane Thiam, currently managing director, Aviva International, who will become chief executive Aviva Europe, and will join Aviva’s executive committee.
“Philip’s new role reflects the group’s determination to capitalise on the significant growth opportunity provided by the recently announced AmerUs acquisition and the longer term potential of Asia,” says Richard Harvey, group chief executive of Aviva. “Tidjane’s international experience and strategic insight will be important qualities in the leadership of our European operations.”
