James Stuart Smith has been appointed as Chief Investment Officer at Ansbacher, within its investment services division based in the UK. James joins the bank from Halifax Bank of Scotland where he was a Strategy Consultant.

He will be responsible for heading up the multi management team covering international equities and bonds which currently advises on the management of some US$1 billion of funds. James will draw on his considerable wealth of experience in this field not just from HBOS but also from his time at Skandia, where he was Head of Multi-manager Research for five years and from Bacon & Woodrow where he was Head of Pooled Funds advising UK corporate pension schemes on all aspects of investments.

Glyn Owen, Head of Investment Services at Ansbacher commented:

“We are delighted to welcome James to the team. His considerable experience of multi-manager products gained through his previous positions and his extensive dealings with both retail and institutional multi-management programmes will be a great asset to the bank.

James’ proven success in this field will strengthen and enhance the existing research process; he will play a key role in our development and expansion plans, building on the firm’s recent successes in winning institutional mandates”.
