UBS has hired Ananias (Andy) Blocker as a Managing Director in its US Office of Public Policy. Blocker is based in Washington, DC and will represent UBS on banking, securities and other financial services issues on Capitol Hill and the executive branch. He reports to John Savercool, Head of US Public Policy.

Blocker, 40, is a veteran Washington advocate with almost 20 years of experience in Congress, the White House, and private sector. He joins UBS from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), where he was Vice President of Government Relations, focusing on a range of market structure, corporate governance, international and tax Issues.

Prior to joining the NYSE, he was Managing Director for Governmental Affairs at American Airlines, where he managed international route negotiation and led the companys efforts to obtain liability relief post 9/11. During his tenure in the public sector, Blocker worked for Congressman Martin Frost (D-TX), the Senate Budget Committee, and the Clinton White House where he contributed to the passage of the Bipartisan Balanced Budget Act of 1997.
