The average British family believes that an annual income of 64,000 will be enough to wipe out their financial fears, according to a new study, The Telegraph reports.
They also think that to feel happy and afford everything wanted they would need a household income of 78,669.
And with 118,577 a year they would feel they had more money than really needed.
The survey revealed that although nearly three-quarters of people are gloomy about the economy as a whole, seven in ten still feel optimistic about their own position.
The “Wealth Confidence Barometer” study shows that 55% of Brits rate their family and friends as “extremely important to me” while exactly half say the same of their health.
However, only a quarter rate having enough money as being extremely important, while career success ranked even lower with just 13% feeling it is extremely important to them.
The research carried out by pensions and investment specialist AIG Life Wealth Management showed that those who had taken financial advice were more positive about the future.
“It is encouraging to see that most of us are staying positive and are determined not to lose sight of the importance of friends, family and health.,” says Mark Hawthorne, director of sales & marketing at AIG Life Wealth Management. “Our research also indicates there’s a direct cause and effect between taking financial advice and peace of mind – and that’s something everyone can take advantage of, not just the very rich.
“With assistance from financial experts and by planning just a little more carefully, people can rest assured they are in good financial shape which allows them to enjoy other important things in life.”
