15 May 2008 was the foundation day of a new Ukrainian stock exchange. A group of leading Ukrainian investment companies and the Russian Stock Exchange RTScreated the new bourse called Ukrainian Stock Exchange.
The statutory capital of the new stock exchange amounts to UAH 12 million. Among its founders are at least 20 professional participants of the Ukrainian stock market and RTS holding a stake of 49% in the new Stock Exchange. It is planned that all procedures on the stock exchange creation will be finalised by the end of the year until when RTS also plans to decrease its part to 40%.
The Ukrainian Stock Exchange will organise spot and forward market. According to information published by the Ukrainian Securities and Stock Market StateCommission (SSMSC) the Ukrainian market provides 8 stock exchanges and 1 trading system. The biggest stock exchange is PFTS with trade volumes in 2007 amounting to UAH 36.9 billion, representing 87.4% of the organised market.
