The Board of Securities & Investment Institute has appointed Alan Yarrow as the new Chairman of the Institute from September 2009 when the current Chairman, Scott Dobbie, will retire after nine years.
Yarrow, who is currently Chairman of Dresdner Kleinwort Ltd, Chairman of LIBA and an Alderman of the City of London, has a long association with the Institute, having started his career at Grieveson Grant in 1972 and taken his exams and become a member when the Institute was formed 17 years ago.
I am very much looking forward to working with everybody at the Institute, says Yarrow. I dont think there has been a time when the SII, and their principles on ethics and professionalism have been more relevant.
He is immensely well qualified, having experience in both the core stockbroking and wealth management business as well as in the investment banking industry which will be particularly useful in the light of the FSA Retail Distribution Review and as the Institute expands abroad, says Alan Ramsay, senior independent director.
