The London-based Securities and Investment Institute is introducing Fellowships by “experience.” It means senior professionals throughout the securities industry can now become Fellows of the Institute by a combination of experience and seniority, in addition to relevant qualifications, including the CFA and the SII’s Diploma.

Whereas previously full Securities & Investment Institute Members (MSI) could only become Fellows (FSI) of the Institute once they had passed the Institute’ own Diploma examination, there is now an alternative route to becoming an FSI, which fully recognises other relevant examinations, experience and seniority within the firm. It also recognises that the SII Diploma is not necessarily the appropriate qualification for either compliance or operational specialists who form such an important part of the industry.
